| The Netherlands - ProNet World Tour European Stop - Dec 2003 | | | Yahoo! We made it to Europe! We've travelled a total of 16,000 Km and six months to get here. This Continent is totally different than North America. Everything is so compact. Our first issue is to reconfigure our receiver to 35mhz. As you can see here, Rob from Quartel is thinking about the setup for European Flying in the Heart of the Netherlands. Winter is beginning in the Northern Hemisphere, and the weather is starting to show it. We will be flying indoors. | | | | | | | We were impressed with Rob's persistence, as he had the extra problem of not having a concise manual in Dutch to work from. But, as you see here, it took only a short time to get operating on European frequencies for the first time ever. We can't wait till our girlfriends at Hooter's hear this... I can understand 35mhz now! It seems so long ago that we were baking under that hot southern USA sun, talking 72mhz trash, and now here we are are in the land of wooden shoes (and wooden landing pads). | | | | | | | | | Under the glare of the Gym lights in Pijnacker, Rob gets a feel for the controls, practicing for the Gym Party that our Dutch friends set up for the tour. It's amazing how similar all of us who fly RC's are, everywhere in the world, how much we have in common, no matter our backgrounds. How many gymnasiums play out this same comradeship every weekend around the world?.. A whole lot, for sure! | | | What a great time, dancing with the Dutch Heli's at the SinkerKlaas Party. This is such a 'Neat' country; - the people have a great sense of humor, and are most hospitable. Here's something that we in North America may not realize: ... Holland celebrates their holiday season ahead of our Christmas, so we got to be part of the festivities before we have to head off to Asia. | | | | | | | | | And, as usual, it's hard to say good-bye. We've met many great Heli's along the road, but this sweet Eco will be hard to forget. Thank you, Holland, for representing Europe as a pivotal part of the ProNet World Tour! | | |
