 | | Packaging the ProNet for the next World Tour Pilot is a bit of an art. You'll notice the outer case is tough, but you still need to protect and isolate the heli from the drop off the cargo door. First, put the shaped foam insert inside the cowling to protect the canopy from caving in. It is slotted, and slides over the battery rods. Push the antenna tube back to align with the tail, being careful not to wreck the Rx antenna in the process. Put the landing gear into the slots in the foam, make sure the Tail and nose are clear of the casing for drop clearance | | Next, Put the two vertical sandwich foam slabs down the outside of the case walls as shown here. They are high enough to keep the Heli in place when the lid is closed, by compressing the foam down on the landing gear. DO NOT put these slabs tight against the Heli, keep them up against the side walls of the case. | | | | | Next, sandwich the tail boom with the two full height pieces by carefully placing them one on each side of the tail boom. Make sure you don't touch the tail rotor assembly, and that it remains clear of the foam. In case of dropping, you don't want the Heli to jolt back and impact the inlet diffuser. Add the extra short pieces forward and on top of the canopy to keep the Heli from moving up in the case if dropped upside down. There are slots in the foam to accept the fly bar. Make sure the foam pieces are the right way round to accept the flybar without bending the rod. Don't forget to put the Rotor blades in the plastic bag and slide them into the outside crack of the foam, away from the heli. | | Here's what the Fan Tail ends up looking like, after it's all closed up. Note that it is not touching anything, especially the case. Place the Log Envelope in front of the foam slab, so that it will be easy to close the cover of the case. The Low density foam has a high coefficient of friction, so is difficult to slide on the foam without putting distortion pressure on the packing. With the envelope there, it will slide easily.
